The French are top of European Qualifying Group B and beat the Irish 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in March
Stephen Kenny faces another daunting task on Thursday night when he takes his Republic of Ireland side to the Parc de Princes to play France. With another testing clash against Holland to come on Sunday, Kenny and Ireland need all the luck they can get but that has been in short supply in recent campaigns.
While hopes are high over the future of Brighton sensation Evan Ferguson, he has been ruled out of this game and the clash with the Netherlands due to injury. Ferguson smashed a sensational hat-trick in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United but shipped a knock late in the game.
