Midfielder has sidestepped a Florida sunshine break to knuckle down at the PFA Scotland Showcase trial this week as he bids to win a deal with a new club.
Freed Kilmarnock kid Aaron Quigg should have been in the middle of a dream holiday to Miami right now. Instead he’s putting in the hard yards in Cumbernauld after ditching the Magic City in a bid to revive his football dream.
It’s a shop window which has paid off for many of like-minded driven youngsters in recent years. And Quigg - who will join up with his mates Harvey Gilmour, brother of Scotland ace Billy, Kian Leslie and big Ethan Brown in Florida for the last few days of their vacation next week - knows it’s a chance he couldn’t miss for anything.
"You have to make sacrifices. I've been making them since I was five. When all my friends were going out to parties, I never really went. My mum and dad said I should be socialising more, but I was always going to the gym or doing extra stuff in training instead. I'm devoted to football. I wasn't going to waste this chance for a week on holiday. My dad always says you get out of football what you put in. Hopefully that will pay off for me.
"It's tough. You need to be mentally strong and luckily I think I am quite strong that way. It's just given me extra motivation to push on and prove people wrong.
