The voluntary recall covers packages of organic blueberries sold under the brand name Natierra, with expiration dates of December 2022 and January 2025.
Freeze-dried blueberries harvested in Lithuania are being recalled over fears of lead contamination.
"If a child is exposed to enough lead for a protracted period of time permanent damage to the central nervous system can occur," the recall announcement said."This can result in learning disorders, developmental defects, and other long-term health problems." Neither the FDA nor BrandStorm, which is based in Los Angeles, could be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.
