A long-lost work may have been spotted 'Hung Up' in Madonna's home
The revelations came to light after an eagle-eyed art historian had spotted the work in the background of a 2015 photoshoot the star did forThe distinctive neoclassical painting depicts the Goddess Diana falling in love with shepherd Endymion.
Madonna is reported to have snapped up an identical painting for $1.3 million in a 1989 auction at Sotheby’s in New York. At the time thought to be a copy,Ms Fouré personally appealed to the Material Girl to consider loaning the work to Amiens so it could be displayed, more than a century after being lost, as it bids to become the 2028 European Capital of Culture.
“However, in the last few days, a special connection has been established between yourself and our city.” She said the star herself would also be welcome to visit, adding: “It would be amazing to have her come here but I can’t imagine it happening.”Madonna may have other things on her mind at the moment after she announced a global tour featuring her greatest hits from four decades., which kicks off in Vancouver in Canada on 15 July.
