Relatives and friends of Eileen Gibbons have set up a Go-fund-me appeal
A Go-fund-me appeal has been set up for a young Mayo social worker who is recovering in a hospital in Darwin after being shot on Tuesday.
Relatives and friends of Eileen Gibbons from Rathbawn, Castlebar, have launched the appeal for Eileen whom they describe as “a compassionate caregiver known for her dedication to her patients”.READ MORE: Irish nurse shot in Australia named as police probe if man opened fire before turning gun on himselfShe has responded well to emergency treatment for an abdominal wound in recent days and has been able to speak briefly by telephone with her mother, Anne.
Anne and other relatives are preparing this weekend to make the long trip to Darwin to be by Eileen’s bedside.Ms. Gibbons was shot by a 35-year-old man, who was known to her, in the Milner area of Darwin last Tuesday evening.
