Eamon Devlin , born in 1978 near Crossmaglen, lived through the Troubles in Northern Ireland. He was a managing partner in Zurich and decided to stop being a lawyer due to significant health issues linked to his past. After undergoing extensive therapy, he pursued a Master of Science degree in psychology at Brunel University, London. His research focused on half-time team talks in Gaelic football.
Devlin continued his education with a Doctorate from Leeds Beckett University, focusing on player dissatisfaction with half-time breaks in various sports. He observed that coaches tended to lecture players extensively after defeats, which did not improve performance. His personal experience watching his daughter's soccer games reinforced this observation
