The era of sequels continues as Frozen 3, Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2 have all been confirmed to be in the works.
He said: ‘Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.’Details about the major upcoming projects are being kept tightly under wraps, though Iger promised they will have ‘more to share about these productions soon.’
He added the three sequels were an example of how Disney are ‘leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises’. Iger isn’t exaggerating, considering the most recent Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia films each reached over $1billion at the global box office. 2022 original film Strange World proved a bit of a box office flop despite its sweet story and star-studded cast It was announced last November by Disney’s board of directors that Iger would be coming back on board as he was ‘uniquely suited’ to the position at current.
Disney’s most recent original films – though hugely popular among fans – have been nowhere close to reaching the sea financial status in the box office as the likes of Frozen and Toy Story.
