Great memories of fun filled nights lie gathering dust at now deserted social club
following the closure of the Robert Fletcher mill whose workforce it served.
Kyle told the M.E.N:"I couldn't believe the [pool table] balls were still set up! After having a look around the bar area discovering old records and old beer glasses I made my way down the long corridor and uncovered a piano in one of the side rooms.and see what you can discover "Looking around I noticed some big double doors upon entering I was greeted by the grand stage albeit it the floor now a death trap! Making my way to the steps I found a room at the back with seating and an old greenfield mill social club picture with a bowls team league winners 1958 still fairly intact."
Other items Kyle uncovered included old bottles and glasses, breweriana, old records and even a bizarre pair of oversize shoes which could have been some sort of stage prop. Although the old social club continues to fall into dereliction, there's no doubt some fun nights with lots of music and laughter were held there before it finally closed its doors.
