In the early hours of July 1st, Paul Carthy, 49, was the victim of an attack outside of the Harefield Road Bar on 769 Metropolitan Avenue at around 12.53 am.
Paul, who is originally from Bray, was reportedly approached by his assailant, and when asked to stop, had a knife pulled on him. It was reported that the culprit, later named as Lawrence Bunch, 32, stabbed Paul in the abdomen before fleeing the scene.Following a search of the area, NYPD found, apprehended, and charged Bunch for
assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, obstructing governmental administration, and harassment. Paul is now recuperating from his injuries at home and the local community have stepped up to raise funds to support him through his recovery.The fundraiser, so far, has seen over $25,000 donated to assist Paul through this difficult time, with a goal of raising $40,000 for the Wicklow native.
