The funeral of veteran RTÉ broadcaster Larry Gogan will take place in Templeogue, Dublin this morning
He died on Tuesday following a broadcasting career that spanned almost six decades.
The 85-year-old was best known for his work on RTÉ 2FM, where he was a DJ for 40 years before moving to RTÉ Gold. He began his career on Raidio Éireann before playing the first record on 2FM when it went on air in 1979.President Michael D Higgins said Larry had made an indelible impact on Irish music and had an infectious enthusiasm and passion for music of all kinds.
RTÉ Director General Dee Forbes called him "a genuine national institution" and a gentleman of the airwaves.Comedy Gold! The 10 best 'Just a Minute' answers It will be aired on RTÉ News Now from 11.30am, and streamed live on RTÉ News Facebook and Twitter.
