The GAA All-Ireland Senior Club semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday despite a storm warning affecting several counties. The intermediate semi-finals, moved due to the weather, will be shown online by TG4.
There's a bit of an asterisk involved here given the orange storm warning that will be in place in six counties - for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary - from 5pm on Saturday to 5pm on Sunday. Already the All-Ireland intermediate club football semi-final between Austin Stacks of Kerry and Derry's Ballinderry on Saturday as been moved from Tullamore to Donnycarney, and the throw-in pushed back an hour.
Both intermediate club football semi-finals will be shown online by TG4, with the senior semi-finals set for a mouth-watering double header on Sunday. First off, Cuala take on Sligo and Connacht champions Coolera-Strandhill go head to head in Cavan. The Dublin and Leinster champs are looking to keep their hopes alive of becoming only the second club to win All-Ireland hurling and football titles, and the first do it since St Finbarr's 45 years ago. Coolera-Strandhill, meanwhile, made history by becoming the first Sligo team to reach this stage since St Mary's in 1983. Now they're looking to become the first team from the county to make the All-Ireland decider. In the other semi-final, Errigal Ciarán are buoyant after winning their third Ulster title - and a first since 2002 - beating 2022 All-Ireland champions Kilcoo in the process. They face a hugely experienced Dr. Crokes side that beat Loughmore-Castleiney and that features the likes of Kerry All-Ireland winners Gavin White, Micheál Burns, Tony Brosnan, Fionn Fitzgerald and Kieran O’Leary. However there is a pitch inspection due for O'Moore Park in Portlaoise on Saturday evening and, if necessary, on Sunday morning.
