A Galway GAA club has paid tribute to a former player who died less than a month after his father. Thomas 'Tom' Ward passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday after battling illness for some time. Mr. Ward, a former student at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, is survived by his mother Eilish, sister Aisling and brother Darragh, along with his grandparents Rose Ward and Tom and Ena Owens.
A Galway GAA club have paid tribute to a former player who passed away less than a month after his father died.

In an emotional tribute shared on the club's Facebook page, Menlo Emmett Hurling Club said: "Thomas Ward Rest In Peace. Menlo Emmett’s would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Eilish, Aisling & Darragh, the Ward and Owens families at this very difficult time.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share the very sad news of the death of Thomas Ward, Menlo Galway," the club said in a social media post. Annaghdown Camogie club, where Thomas's aunt Emer volunteers as an underage coach, also paid tribute in a message which read: "All at Annaghdown Camogie extend our heartfelt condolences to our U9 Coach, Emer Conroy, and her daughters and Annaghdown camógs, Martha & Olivia , on the loss of Emer’s dear nephew, Tom.
