Aghamore GAA club remembered McNeive as someone who 'lit a flame at the club' after the tragic news.
Aghamore GAA club have paid tribute to senior player James McNeive who died following a road accident near Drumcliffe in Co Sligo at the weekend. The collision, which happened shortly before 6am on Sunday on the N15 at Urlar, involved a van and a lorry. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Our Club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the McNeive Family on the tragic and extremely sad passing of our senior player James McNeive RIP," the club statement began. "He played football with his heart and a determination that was spoken about and admired by all who knew and saw him play. James lit a flame in our Club, one that we will endeavor burns brightly in his honour for generations of footballers to love and admire long into our future."
