Making it Work Galway-based software firm Syncrophi eyes growth in Irish market

“It’s a software system for use in hospital wards that doctors and nurses can use at the bedside or anywhere. It’s a patient facing product really as it’s for use at the point of care. It’s medical grade software, which is connected to vital signs monitors,” Toohey told the Business Post. “Our original focus was on medical devices. We realised however that we were too early for what we wanted to do. It was essentially a case of pushing a car up a hill,” Toohey said.

The introductions of these systems meant there was a sudden need for software that could provide medical professionals with quick and accurate patient data. Syncrophi has the software to meet that need. The Syncrophi system is now in use in 13 hospitals and won the most innovative product award for indigenous SMEs at the National Healthcare Innovation Awards in November.

“They are competent people who really network well in the markets they are in. Going to them is like getting a shortcut to a good understanding of what is what. It’s tremendous for a small company.”
