Galway GAA mourns the passing of Jimmy Duggan
The former player won a national league title with his county back in 1951 and went on to appear in All-Ireland final losses in 1953, 1955 and 1958.He also won titles with his club side Liam Mellows in 1954, ’55, ’68 and ’70 and was delighted as his club picked up their ninth trophy in 2017.
Duggan went on to become a referee while still in his playing days and officiated the 1964 All-Ireland minor final, the 1965 All-Ireland U-21 decider and also the 1966 Railway Cup final. The beloved club man stewarded up until a few years ago and was regularly seen supporting his club in Galway. He will be laid to rest at Forthill Cemetery following his funeral mass at St Patrick’s Church, Forster Street on Wednesday at 11 am.
