James Bolger has taken the scenic route to this Sunday’s FAI Cup final at the Aviva Stadium.

A text message early this week brought James Bolger back to the start of a journey that took him from Galway to Drogheda - via the USA and Sweden.

He became a quicker, stronger player in America, and took those skills with him to Sweden and now to Drogheda.

“Zishim came through their system to Sweden and then Drogheda, so I don’t think I’d be here only for him,” he explained.
