In an interview with British 'GQ' published Tuesday, the English actress looked back on her time as the iconic character, while also considering what she has learned about herself in the aftermath of the hit fantasy series.
“I think that when I started becoming a woman, I resented Arya because I couldn’t express who I was becoming,” she tells the outlet. “And then I also resented my body, because it wasn’t aligned with the piece of me that the world celebrated.”
During her tenure on the series, Williams was nominated for two Primetime Emmys for her performance. Fellow actors including Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey and Kit Harington were also among those recognized, while the show picked up numerous accolades. Asked what she misses about the show, Williams responds: “Can I say none of it?” The actress clarifies that, although she “loved” her time on the fantasy series, she does not wish to explicitly miss that period of her young life.
“I don’t think it’s healthy [to miss it], because I loved it,” she says. “I look at it so fondly, and I look at it with such pride. But why would I want to make myself feel sad about the greatest thing that ever happened to me?
