It's believed the international gang behind a suspected drug smuggling operation off west Cork is based in Spain.

Ten men are still being held this morning over the joint investigation by gardaí, the naval service and international police forces.

Gardaí are now trying to trace the mothership that was intending to offload this consignment of drugs. It's believed that the drugs that were intended to be smuggled was cocaine, likely sourced from Colombia via Venezuela in Central America.
