Sergio Garcia has won more points at the Ryder Cup than any other player in history and his love for the event has been revealed by one of his former captains
Sergio Garcia's passion for the Ryder Cup has been highlighted by his former captain, Paul McGinley. The Spanish golfer is aiming to make a comeback to the matchplay event in 2025.
Garcia was among several LIV Golf players who left the European circuit in 2023 after being fined and penalised for participating in 'conflicting' events with the breakaway league. Despite accumulating hefty fines, the Fireballs captain is eager to return to the Ryder Cup in 2025 and has paid off his penalties and reapplied for DP World Tour membership.
This was confirmed in the newly released documentary 'Una Famiglia', which covers Europe's Ryder Cup victory in Italy last year, where McGinley discussed Garcia's obsession with the event. Donald, who is geared up for a comeback as captain in the States following last year's win, discussed Garcia's potential return during an exclusive interview with Mirror Sport recently. "The more people I have to choose from at Bethpage, the better," said the one-time world champion.
