Garda concern over bill 'extending' GSOC functions as investigation into ex-officer continues
Senior gardaí have expressed concerns about a new bill progressing through the Dáil that will "amend and extend the functions" of GSOC while an investigation is being conducted into a former senior officer.
The incident involving the senior GSOC officer has led to concern among gardaí about the Policing, Security and Community Safety Bill that is making its way through the Oireachtas. However, Government sources attempted to downplay the concerns and said that the Bill will continue to progress as planned.
They argued that it "predates" what has happened over the last week and the GSOC officer’s attendance at the Hutch bash.
