Footage shows two Gardaí sprinting away from a man in a dressing gown wielding a samurai sword in Blanchardstown, Dublin. The man attacked the Gardaí's car and is now on the run.

This is the moment two Gardaí fled for their lives from a dressing gown-clad thug wielding a samurai sword .

The thug then strides into view, holding the sword. He screams at the pair and strikes the passenger side of the car with the weapon as it begins to slowly reverse. The attacker then turns and strides away again, his open dressing gown flapping around his legs in the wind. The Irish Mirror has learned that the aggressor is well-known to Gardaí and is considered a dangerous, violent figure.
