As of 2pm on Friday, 211 vehicles were detected speeding out of almost 85,000 that have been checked since Thursday morning

The Chief Superintendent of the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau has said she is “gravely concerned” at some of the risks being taken by drivers during a Bank Holiday weekend roads policing operation.

And while the behaviour of the majority of drivers was described as “positive”, Chief Superintendent of the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau Jane Humphries said she was “gravely concerned” at some of the risk-taking Gardaí have witnessed. "Anyone that is prepared to drive at dangerously excessive speeds like those we’ve already detected, has the potential to destroy lives – if not their own, others too.

Gardaí have described some of the speeding incidents witnessed so far this weekend as “especially dangerous”, highlighting the examples below.
