Gardai said three teens were arrested
The incident happened at around 12.30 am on Tuesday in the centre of Dundalk, Co Louth.
A spokeswoman said: “A managed containment operation was put in place after Gardaí had identified a car which had been subject to an unauthorised taking earlier on Monday evening in the Dundalk area. “Two of these juveniles have since been released from Garda custody, pending referrals to the Youth Diversion Programme. The third remains detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.The spokeswoman appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
