The garda who was injured in a road crash in east Cork last night has undergone surgery and remains in a critical condition
The garda, who was on duty in an unmarked patrol car, is understood to have been dealing with a broken-down car on the roadside when the crash occurred.The driver of the other car was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The garda received emergency treatment at the side of the road before being transferred to Cork University Hospital by ambulance.The N25 Cork to Waterford road will remain closed until an examination by garda forensic road crash investigators is completed.
