An Garda Síochána is actively recruiting new members with a campaign offering enticing benefits. The application window is open until February 27, 2025, and prospective candidates can learn more and apply on the Public Appointments Service website. The drive highlights the advantages of a career in law enforcement, including a bachelor's degree, training allowance, competitive starting salary, overtime opportunities, pension scheme, and healthcare benefits.
Gardaí have launched a massive recruitment drive with some incredible benefits on offer for candidates, but any prospective Gardai only have a few weeks to apply. The latest Garda recruitment campaign opened on February 6 and will run until 3pm on Thursday 27 February, 2025.
The drive will be operated by the Public Appointments Service on behalf of An Garda Síochána. Candidates can apply here. Prospective candidates are being urged to consider the benefits that come with a career in An Garda Síochána, including a Level 7 Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Policing, along with €354 per week for the 36 weeks of training. Garda Trainees will receive an allowance of €354 per week for the 36 weeks of training with accommodation and food provided while resident in the Garda College from Sunday to Friday. The starting salary is €37,311 and this rises incrementally, with Gardaí also having the opportunity to work on overtime which is paid at a rate of time and a half, unless working on a Sunday/public holiday which is paid at double time. Garda Trainees will be assigned to work the core shift roster which attracts additional allowances, but flexible working options are available throughout the career. The Fast Accrual Members Pension Scheme allows members to build up pension benefits at a higher rate each year. Access to the Doctors of Choice GP scheme , access to the Medical Aid Scheme, access to numerous Garda societies and clubs and access to Garda Credit Unions. Since Garda recruitment recommenced, and the first Garda Trainees entered the Garda College in December 2022, nearly 1,500 Garda Trainees have commenced training. Almost 1,000 Garda Trainees have been attested as members of An Garda Síochána, and almost 450 Garda Trainees are currently in training. The next intake of Garda Trainees will be attested on 7 March 2025, with a fresh intake of Garda Trainees entering the Garda College on 10 March. Chief suspect identified for attack on Garda member's homeA chief suspect has been identified for an attack on a Garda member's home last year and is expected to be charged.
