A female Garda officer was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Unit on suspicion of harassing a male colleague over an extended period. The arrest involved searching the officer's home and work station, as well as seizing electronic devices used in the alleged harassment.
Irish authorities have arrested a female Garda officer on suspicion of harassing a male colleague over an extended period. The arrest was made by detectives from the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) earlier today at the officer's residence in southeast Ireland . She is currently being held at another Garda station in the same region.
Sources have revealed that the alleged harassment involved the officer sending letters to the male officer's home, both to him and his wife, persistently troubling him and his family. It is believed the alleged victim previously worked alongside the suspect at the same station but is now stationed elsewhere in the country. The ACU conducted a thorough investigation, searching the officer's home and locker at the station where she is employed. Additionally, detectives seized a computer and printer from a public library as part of their probe. Sources indicate that the officer can be held for 24 hours but is likely to be released without charge on Thursday. The ACU detectives will then compile a report of their investigation for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions. A Garda spokesman confirmed the arrest in a statement to the Irish Mirror, stating that a female in her 30s was arrested for an alleged offence contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. He emphasized that investigations are ongoing. It is also understood that the arrested officer has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
