An Garda Síochána has launched a significant recruitment drive, offering appealing benefits to potential candidates. The campaign, managed by the Public Appointments Service, commenced on February 6th, 2025, and applications will be accepted until 3 pm on Thursday, February 27th, 2025.
Interested individuals are encouraged to explore the advantages of a career with An Garda Síochána, which include a Level 7 Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Policing and a weekly training allowance of €354 for 36 weeks.During their training at the Garda College, trainees will receive accommodation and meals from Sunday to Friday. Upon successful completion of their training, they will commence their Garda careers with a starting salary of €37,311, which progressively increases over time. Gardaí also have the opportunity to earn overtime, paid at time and a half, except for Sundays and public holidays, which are paid at double time. Trainees will initially work the core shift roster (12 hours), which comes with additional allowances. However, flexible working arrangements are available throughout their career. The Fast Accrual (Uniformed) Members Pension Scheme allows members to build up pension benefits at a faster rate each year. Other benefits include access to the Doctors of Choice GP scheme (where An Garda Síochána covers the GP consultation fee), the Medical Aid Scheme, various Garda societies and clubs, and Garda Credit Unions. Since Garda recruitment resumed in December 2022, nearly 1,500 Garda Trainees have begun their training. Almost 1,000 trainees have been officially sworn in as members of An Garda Síochána, while approximately 450 trainees are currently in training. The next group of Garda Trainees will be attested on March 7th, 2025, followed by a new intake entering the Garda College on March 10th.
