Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the death of a man found at the bottom of the stairs in a house in Cork city this morning.
Officers received the results of a post-mortem examination on Sunday afternoon, which determined that the man, who was in his 50s, had died of natural causes. Gardaí are understood to be taking no further action in relation to the tragic death - which made headlines on Sunday morning when it emerged that they were seeking to establish whether the incident was suspicious.READ MORE: Garda probe launched after man's body found at bottom of stairs in Cork city house“My sympathies to the family and I suppose that all I can say. It’s so sad to hear of a death so close to Christmas and indeed no matter what time year it is,” he said.
It is understood the scene was first attended by emergency services and that gardaí soon arrived to investigate.“Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident at 1am approximately.
