Irish Gardaí are seeking witnesses after a woman was violently assaulted on a Dublin bus last year. The attack, captured on CCTV, took place on May 29, 2024, on the S8 bus route.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a shocking assault on a woman that took place on a Dublin bus last year. The incident, which unfolded on May 29, 2024, around 8:30 am, is the subject of the first episode of CrimeCall in 2025. Officers in Rathfarnham have been investigating the unprovoked attack on the woman who was traveling to work on the S8 bus heading towards Dún Laoghaire. CCTV footage captured the suspect boarding the bus at Belgard Square West in Tallaght.

He is described as a man in his 30s wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. Approximately 45 minutes later, the bus reached the Grange Road in Rathfarnham at the Eden Avenue bus stop, where the victim boarded. She sat diagonally across from the suspect, unaware of the danger that awaited her. The suspect caught the woman's attention and appeared to speak to her. Seconds later, he grabbed her bag and threw it down the aisle. When she stood up to retrieve it, he blocked her path, grabbed her arm, and pushed her down the bus. The bus driver stopped the vehicle, but the attack continued. The suspect pushed the woman again while a passenger attempted to intervene. The suspect then grabbed the victim by the hair and dragged her towards the open door. She clung to the handrails, managing to stay on her feet as the man grabbed her by the neck and hair, attempting to throw her off the bus. Another individual intervened, causing the suspect to back down. He then grabbed his belongings, including his bags and coat, and exited the bus. Gardaí believe the man went down a laneway to the Grange Court estate, where he was last seen. A Garda spokesperson on CrimeCall made a heartfelt appeal: “This is a terrifying incident for the victim that left her badly shaken. It happened on a busy bus in broad daylight. We are appealing for witnesses or anyone that can identify the suspect to please make contact with us.
