The off-duty officer was the driver of the car which collided with a bus in Ballylanders, Co Limerick at around 3pm on October 26
A Garda who was under investigation from GSOC in relation to a crash which killed his partner has been found dead in tragic circumstances.
The man’s partner, who was in the passenger seat, was seriously injured in the accident and was airlifted to hospital in Cork from the scene.READ MORE - Gardai rule out strangulation and assault in 'unexplained' death of mother-of-one in WexfordThe driver and the 20 children aboard the bus were not injured.In a statement at the time, GSOC said: "The referral was made by a garda superintendent under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005.
The officer was not from the Limerick Division, but it is understood he had recently applied to join the force’s Armed Support Unit.
