Hundreds over drivers were caught speeding all around the country on Monday
On Monday, gardaí conducted a national speed enforcement operation dubbed Slow Down Day which lasted until 7am this morning.
Throughout the 24 hours, a staggering amount of motorists were pulled for driving above the speed limit, including a driver on the N53 Philipstown Dundalk Louth was found to be speeding at 161km/h in a 100km/h Zone. Slow Down Days are carried out annually with the help of the Road Safety Authority with the aim of reminding drivers of the dangers of speeding - especially given the spate of recent fatal road accidents throughout the country.READ MORE: RSA statistics on accident blackspots on Irish roads should be made public, Labour say
