Figures released by Minister for Justice Helen McEntee also reveal that eight garda patrol cars are driving around Dublin City centre at all times - amidst recent fears that the capital is not safe.
Ms McEntee said she was advised that in the almost two-year period there have been 12,961 foot and mountain bike patrols in Dublin and that during this period some 13,472 people were arrested and 23,537 charges were issued along with 10,505 summons. “All personnel assigned to Operation Citizen are paraded on a daily basis at 8am and at 4pm and are assigned a particular sector within the geographical scope of Operation Citizen to patrol on foot,” Ms McEntee also revealed.
