Two gardaí have been hailed as heroes after they rescued a man who almost drowned after he became stuck in water in a terrifying incident.Garda Randal Considine and Garda Shane Riddell were on-duty around the southern shores of Galway Bay when they got a call on the radio that a man was 'in difficulty' in the water at Kinvara.
Local man Killian Kenny had walked out to the rocky outcrop a short distance from the shore, but as he set about making his way back to the mainland he accidentally lodged his left leg and foot between rocks.After receiving the call at 4:45pm, Garda Considine and Garda Riddell rushed to the scene and spotted Killian's head just above the waters.
The quick-thinking hero duo were praised on social media as An Garda Siochana shared the details of the incident in a post. A third added: "Amazing bravery and commitment to their job! Well done lads, all concerned, and a happy outcome for the poor man who was rescued, must have been very frightening."
