A garda spokesperson confirmed to the Irish Mirror that the incident is under investigation
Gardaí are investigating after a Dublin Bus driver was stabbed in the head with a fork - in the staff canteen.
The driver, who was set upon randomly by a member of the public, is said to be lucky not to be more seriously injured in the incident which is understood to have been completely unprovoked.“Gardaí received a report of an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 10:10am on the 28 October 2023 in a premises on Earl Place, Dublin 1,” the spokesperson said.
Gardaí say no arrests have been made in connection with the assault, which is understood to have taken place in front of many shocked onlookers. It is understood that staff have made several complaints in the past about safety in the area - and the ease of access that members of the public have to the Dublin Bus canteen.
Trade union SIPTU are understood to have expressed those concerns to Dublin Bus management - saying the shocking attack could have been prevented.“Dublin Bus takes all incidents very seriously and is currently investigating,” a spokesperson said.
