Gardai confirmed five people were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment but no injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The multi-vehicle collision happened on the N68 near Caherea at 7pm with major delays in the area in the aftermath.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a multi-vehicle collision in Caherea, Co.Clare on Friday, 3 rd June 2022. "The collision occurred at approximately 7.25pm. A total of 5 persons were taken to University Hospital Limerick. None of these injures are believed to be life-threatening."
It came just hours after two motorcyclists were killed in a horror crash on the M50 that brought Dublin to a standstill. The pair of British motorcyclists, aged in their 50s and 60s, are believed to have collided with one another before being hit by a truck.
