Gardai reveal increase in amount of people driving under influence of drugs and alcohol in 2019
Nearly 1,500 people were arrested for driving under the influence on alcohol and drugs in the first two months of 2019.Irish road users are being warned to take care ahead of St Patrick's Day after four people were killed or seriously injured over Paddy's weekend 2018.
"This will include a targeted focus on driving under the influence of an intoxicant, whether that is alcohol or drugs or a combination of both. She said: "If you are heading out this weekend please plan ahead. Make sure you know how you’re getting home, whether by taxi, with a designated driver or public transport.
