Have you tried the 'Ring My Bell' cocktail from Session in Tuscaloosa? 'Garden & Gun' magazine says you should.

“It’s pretty surreal, to be honest with you,” Hassan told AL.com. “Literally two years ago, around the holidays, I was searching for holiday recipes for punch bowls I could do for parties. That’s when I realized Garden & Gun has some really good articles and write-ups about several different recipes. They have unique pieces compared to a lot of other food and beverage magazines. I’ve always been a big fan.

Hassan said the Session PR director Nikki McCool Taylor told him the magazine reached out with interest in his drink. “It’s basically a dream come true,” he said. “Never in a million years did I think that, two years down the road after being inspired by Garden & Gun, I would have a piece and recipe in the magazine, so it was really nice to have that opportunity.”

Born and raised in Tuscaloosa , Hassan began his career in the hospitality industry as a server at Baumhower’s Victory Grille in his hometown before moving on to the Levee Bar & Grill where he was eventually promoted to bar manager and gained his passion for mixology. In 2019, he became a bartender at Session where he worked his way up, taking on an assistant manager role before being promoted to general manager in January 2022.

Hassan said he worked on the Ring My Bell drink for several months in 2022, from the end of June through September, finding all the right ingredients before it was just right. “It was a process,” he said. “That’s why people rave about our cocktails. We take our time and get it right. We want it to be of quality and consistent every time you come in.”
