A green-fingered guru has shared a simple trick for effectively draining your lawn, which will help to prevent waterlogged grass and encourage healthy growth
A handy trick can turn your water-soaked lawn into healthy, green grass just in time for spring. A lot of gardeners look forward to the growing season, but a soggy lawn can get in their way.
The squishy soil can stop finer types of grass growing well. These species of grass might even die, leaving you with patchy parts in your lawn with no grass at all, reports the Mirror. This tip was shared by a gardener called Dave, or @davetheplantman on TikTok. He narrated his handy hack, which guides water away and helps keep your grass fit and healthy.
Dave goes on to say: "I've dug a trench so that the border can drain into the trench, but the lawn is sitting very wet. So what I'm doing now is a thing called sand slitting using a spade." To do this job, you need to dig a hole or a little bit on the side of your garden for the water to go into. Dave said: "You have to make a nice trough through your lawn leading to the section. It looks a bit ugly when you first do it, but the surface water now will run off the top of the turf down that hole and into your reservoir."
