As the days get colder and leaves start to fall from the trees, grass will slow down in grow and it'll soon be time to put the lawnmower away until spring
As summer fades, gardeners' focus should shift from lawns to other maintenance tasks like raking leaves and controlling weeds. A key question arises: when should you stop mowing the grass?
She said: "As the seasons change, you will start to notice the growth of your grass begins slowing down. When the first frost comes along, this is usually a clear sign that it's time to put your mower in storage until the following spring. For precision, she suggests monitoring your lawn closely to decide the optimal time for the final cut, reports the Express. The definitive signal to make the last cut is when grass growth halts and the soil remains dry. Gardeners are advised to continue mowing every one to two weeks until growth stops.
"The lawn may still grow slightly for a while after the last cut before the frost stunts the growth. If you cut your grass short, this will prevent the need for any further cuts until next year, even if the lawn does grow slightly."
