The former England manager has been married for 27 years after meeting his wife, Alison Bird, in his early 20s when he came across her working as a counter assistant
Gareth Southgate will likely be spending more time with his family now that he’s no longer the manager of the England football team.
How did Gareth meet his wife? Gareth first met his now-wife when he was in his early 20s . He was as a trainee at Crystal Palace at the time and came across her when she was working as a counter assistant in a shop in Croydon, South London. When he was transferred to Aston Villa in 1995, Alison gave him an ultimatum - either she moved with him to Birmingham with him or they would break up.
They got married in July 1997 at St Nicholas Church in Worth, which was near his family home in Crawley.
