Gatwick Airport is looking into an error on a departure board over the weekend which incorrectly listed a flight to Shannon Airport as arriving in Limerick. Cathal Crowe, a Fianna Fail TD for Clare, highlighted the mistake on social media, prompting Gatwick Airport to investigate the issue.

Gatwick Airport are “looking into” an error made on a departure board over the weekend, which incorrectly displayed the arrival as the wrong county.

Shannon Airport, located in Clare around a 30-minute drive from Limerick City, is the closest airport to the Treaty City, with Cork Airport being just under two hours to reach via bus or car. A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport told the Irish Mirror that the team at the airport gets “fed the information from our airlines and have picked up this end, looking into it.”

“Like all airlines, Ryanair provides Gatwick Airport with our schedule for display on these screens, however, these schedules are and always have been provided in airport codes, e.g. SNN. These codes are then converted into destination names by the Airport, for display on their screens.”
