PrinceGeorge and RoyalFamily delighted by special surprise for KingCharles in flypast TroopingTheColour

Prince George and the Royal Family were left delighted by a special surprise for King Charles on Saturday 17 June during the Trooping the Colour flypast.

Upon spotting the CR, which is the the King’s monogram "CR" for Charles Rex, the family couldn't contain their smiles with Charles, 74, himself seen looking thoughtful over the sweet gesture. The finale was precision formation flying from the Red Arrows who trailed red, white and blue smoke over the capital.

Charles had deputised for Queen Elizabeth II at last year’s event, also known as the Birthday Parade, but now rode onto Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall as the nation’s head of state. The royal party were in the midst of a sovereign’s mounted escort, formed by troops from the Household Cavalry’s Life Guards and Blues and Royals, in their shining breastplates and plumed helmets, and a ripple of cheers followed them when they travelled along The Mall.

Trooping the Colour is a social as well as a ceremonial occasion and in the stands overlooking the parade ground were around 8,000 wives, partners, girlfriends and parents of the guardsmen and officers on parade.
