George Clooney admits he struggled to understand his Irish relatives during Easter weekend visit to Co Laois
George Clooney admitted he struggled to understand his Irish relatives on his first ever visit to his ancestral homeland.
The Hollywood star met his distant relations over the Easter weekend at the luxury Ballyfin hotel in Co Laois. He said: “We walked into this castle and I thought ‘the Clooneys are doing alright over here’ and we spent the afternoon trying to understand what they were saying”.It was the actor’s first trip to Ireland though he added “my name is Clooney so you would think I should have gone there”.While he said that meeting his distant relatives was “odd” because they were practically strangers he also said that it was an interesting experience.
He said: “I also have to say that there is this other part of you which you sort of do feel this weird connection to".The three time Golden Globe winner also revealed that he spent Easter Sunday at Bono’s house.“We try to only do easter with rock stars” he joked adding that it was “really a beautiful day”.While the actor said he had planned on going with his mom and dad, they were forced to pull out after his father suffered a hernia caused by doing “300 sit ups a day” according to Clooney.
