A Georgia man has been charged with capital murder in a shooting at an Auburn home that left two people dead and a woman injured.
Auburn police and U.S. Marshals took 37-year-old Carl Mack Kitchens into custody Wednesday in Georgia. The Columbus man is charged with two counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted murder.
When they arrived on the scene, they found a 28-year-old woman and 35-year-old Lucas Spinks Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. As officers searched the area in the direction of where the suspect fled, police said, they found a person who matched the suspect’s description and had also been shot.Police officials said the preliminary investigation shows the second deceased male shot a gun inside a residence, resulting in the death of Spinks and injuries to the female victim.
The suspect was fatally shot during the exchange. He has been identified as Markevious Donta Yancie, 31, of Lumpkin, Ga.
