Stephen Kenny has endured plenty of criticism, as well as calls for his departure, in the days since Ireland's 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands.
Stephen Kenny has been backed to stay on as Ireland manager by legendary former player and boss, and current pundit John Giles.
Kenny’s reign looks set to end when Ireland’s Euro 2024 campaign is over, with the FAI unlikely to offer him a new deal. However, Giles reckons he has done his best with the players available to him. “They try to play constructive football and most of the time they do, but he doesn't have a lot of choice at the moment.
“I think he's done a good job. It depends now whether the people above have patience with him and continue to give him a contract.“If the crowd stays on his side, then you've got to get the papers on his side, and it will be public opinion if and when it comes to that particular way.
