Glasgow Central train services are facing disruption this weekend.
Network Rail has announced engineers will be carrying out essential maintenance and upgrade work on the West Coast Mainline to improve journeys for passengers.
On Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, teams will be working to renew points - rails that move to switch trains between tracks - at a key junction south-east of Glasgow and to renew sections of the railway near Motherwell.Due to this, cross-border services on the West Coast Mainline and some ScotRail services - Carstairs, Shotts, and Lanark - will be affected with a mix of diversionary rail routes and replacement bus services being used to keep customers on the move.
Simon Constable, Network Rail Scotland’s operations director, said: “Most of Scotland’s Railway will be open as usual, but some services will be affected on the West Coast Mainline and the lines between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley. “We understand the inconvenience engineering works can cause to our customers, but the West Coast Mainline plays a key role in moving freight and passengers around the country and this work is vital to its long-term reliability.”Comments & Moderation
