The founder of a Glasgow charity has been named on King Charles' honours list for her work when it comes to preventing pensioner lonliness.
Now, she acts as an intermediary between animal rescue facilities across the UK and people over 60 who are looking for pets and need financial support. She said: "Animals are wonderful companions for people of all ages, but particularly for those who are retired and on their own. "So not only is it helping your physical wellbeing but they also help your mental health because people talk to you. If you have a cat it provides purpose to your day.
