Emergency services have descended on J12 on the westbound stretch of the busy motorway this afternoon with traffic being taken off the main carriageway, which is closed.
Emergency services scrambled to the westbound carriageway at J12 following the incident which took place just before 2pm.Motorists have been advised to 'avoid the area' and plan ahead.A Traffic Scotland spokesperson said: "The M8 Westbound is currently closed at junction 12 due to a serious collision.
"Traffic is beginning to back up at J12 where traffic is being taken off the main carriageway. Police and TRISS are on scene."A spokesperson said: "The M8 is currently closed westbound between junctions 12 and 13 in Glasgow due to a crash involving a single vehicle. Officers are at the scene."Please plan journeys to avoid the area and use alternative routes."We have contacted Scottish Ambulance Service for a comment.
