A few employees sniffed the mug and said it was'definitely red wine'

Margo Murray worked as a registered nurse at a care home in Barrhead, where she was found unfit for duty after attending work intoxicated and drinking while on shift.

During the hearing the panel also heard of a similar offence on March 21, 2019 while working at a care home in Kilwinning - with fellow employees saying she appeared to be "out of sorts and slurring her words a bit". During the events of September 7, 2020 one witness said the pill count "had been all over the place", with worries Murray may had given residents the wrong medication.

The NMC took these features into account while coming to a conclusion: "Putting patients at risk of harm by carrying out medication administration whilst being under the influence of alcohol."The proportion of alcohol in Mrs Murray’s breath, at the time she attended for work on 21 March 2019 as noted in the Police case summary is considered by the panel to be high.
