Follow our live blog this morning as residents are now able to return home after the overnight evacuation
A large-scale emergency service response descended on a street in the Shettleston area of Glasgow.
Police, paramedics and firefighters scrambled to Altyre Street at around 7.30pm on Monday August 7 in an ongoing incident. Residents were evacuated and a number of streets remained closed overnight as officers urge members of the public to avoid the area. An investigation is currently underway with emergency services. At the peak of the incident officers locked down a number of roads including Altyre Street, Dalness Street, Ard Street and Trainard Avenue.An update from police at 8am this morning states residents are now being allowed back in their homes.We will bring you more on this breaking news story as we get it. “I would like to thank residents and motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident. There was no danger to the wider public.”Over 80 residents have been allowed to return to their homes this morning after 'potentially hazardous materials' were found at a property in Shettleston.
